Intelligent Interfaces for Effective Maintenance
Existing assistance systems usually focus on a specific approach and are not very flexible. However, especially the combination of different output techniques makes it possible to provide optimal support for different work tasks. Complex assembly sequences can be supported with Augmented Reality, whereas speech-based interaction is suitable during simple or well-known activities. Additionally, the provided assistance can be adapted to the requirements of the employee. An inexperienced employee, for instance, can be provided with a multimedia manual that she or he can use to train the procedure outside of the work context. An experienced employee can be supported with a non-obtrusive speech-based interface. This article describes a concept for an assistance system that combines different technologies to provide situation- and user-adapted assistance.
